Yes all our guides are fluent in English.
Theres absolutely no way we can guarantee you won´t get sick. The amount of food we eat and the variety of ingredients, spices and fat content from our food might be very different from your usual diet and that can for sure upset your stomach.
We´ve been in business since 2015 working with the same vendors and we know their quality standards, however, food poisoning can happen at any given time, we live here and sometimes get sick by eating at high-end restaurants, so there´s absolutely no way to know from which place you got sick. However if you are extremely concerned about getting sick or you have a sensitive stomach, a food tour might not be a right fit for you.
We are specialized in street food, the tours visit mainly street stalls and markets. Some itineraries might include 1 or 2 restautants, but expect to be walking and eating standing on the street.
Yes a taco can be cheap, but you are not just paying for the food you eat, you are paying for a whole experience. The price includes:
There´s so much more than just the food on your itinerary.
Unfortunately, due to small mexican alleyways and restaurants, our Eat Like a Local culinary experiences are not wheelchair or baby stroller accessible.
We trust you booked with us because you believe in our mission and values, those values of respect and sustainability don´t allow us to have flexible cancellation and rescheduling policies like the big tour companies.
Why is that?
When you book a slot NOBODY else can take it, it´s reserved for you and only you. We are very small and if you book 1 slot that represents a huge part of our income. We as company are counting with that money and your guide is expecting to get paid for your slots.
Our guides get paid per person attending the tour 30 USD per each person. The rescheduling fee is meant to cover that salary she was expecting to get from you, if you reschedule last minute we need to honor the payment we promise her, and then again pay another wage for the actual date when you take the tour.
If we wanted to be completely fair, we would need to charge in full, because we won´t be able to sell the slots you´ll be using in your new tour date, however we are willing to lose that money because we understand sometimes things get in the way. But we ask you to be respectful with this policy and don´t give us a hard time when we try to implement it
We understand things can happen, a flight can get canceled, you can get sick before the tour, or lose your passport and won´t be able to fly. However we already reserved those slots for you and we have very limited space in our tours, we can´t oversell the tours just to cover our a**es in case somebody cancels because you´ll end up with a 10 people group instead of a 6 people intimate and amazing group and you would not like that would you?
We are counting on that money, our vendors are counting on that money, our guides are expecting to be paid.
If you buy a concert or a soccer match ticket and you get sick before the event you wouldn’t dare to ask a multi-million dollar company like Ticketmaster to refund your money wouldn’t you? If you wouldn’t do it to them, then we ask you to understand that we don´t have the economic capacicty of a multi-million dollar company, and therefore we can´t refund you and we will actually charge your credit card with the balance due.
We know you understand where we are coming from and we appreciate you honoring the policies agreement you signed when you booked. Please don´t make our lives hard, and help us operate happy and smoothly 🙂
We work in the street and street vendors need to be paid in cash and they don´t provide sales receipts, we can´t charge you with credit card because there´s no way we can take that money out of our bank accounts and pay the vendors while operating as a legal and stablished company. We will use that money during the tour to pay the vendors, tip them, and pay extra fees we pay some stalls who provide extra services.
