Areli

Areli joined the program in 2019, she’s a dynamic woman, with lots of dreams and hopes for a better future. She was born and raised at La Merced market and works very hard to support her family.

Areli is a mother of two beautiful kids. Camila, and Edgar Said AKA Pirru, all her efforts are directed to provide for them and give them better opportunities.

Areli is the head of La Merced logistics, and her job is to make sure the quesadillas are ready for the groups. She’s also a tour guide and manages her own stall at the market, while taking care of her two children. What a powerful woman!

HER GOALS FOR 2025

• Reach leven 11th at her English course
• Improve her English so we can raise her salary
• Save money to take her kids on a family vacation by plane
• Create a retirement plan fund and put money on it every month
• Study English for 1 month in Edinburg with her sister Wendy

WHAT HAS SHE DONE SO FAR

• We had a passport for the first time
• She took her first flight, 14 hours to Turkey! What a journey
• She visited Turkey and Greece last year and learned about mass tourism, responsible tourism and good tourism practices
• She went back to study English after a long time without studying
• She traveler by herself to Manchester and studied English
• She overcame her fear to express her needs and desires
• She took an ice plunge workshop to learn how to manage her emotions better
• She tried food from 10 different countries and expanded her horizons, now she likes way more things!
• She started therapy.
